• November 1997:

Received the 1996 Award for Research in the Humanities from the Autonomous Government of Galicia.

• 26 December 2001 - 16 March 2005:

Appointed by the Spanish Ministry for Education and Science as the President of the National Committee for the Assessment of Research on Languages and Linguistics.

• 27 July 2006:

Awarded a Fellowship by the Spanish Ministry for Education and Science and the Autonomous Government of Galicia (Directorate General of Scientific and Technological Promotion, grant no. 2006/19) for one year's research leave.

• Editorial work:

I am the Editor of Folia Linguistica, the peer-reviewed journal of the Societas Linguistica Europaea published by Mouton de Gruyter, and one of the Associate Editors of Atlantis. Official Journal of the Spanish Association for Anglo-American Studies.

• Refereeing:

I have reviewed widely for journals and presses as well as vetted abstracts for a number of conferences. I am also a member of the Scientific Committee (2001-present) of the SLE (Societas Linguistica Europaea), and of the Editorial Boards of Estudios Ingleses de la Universidad Complutense (Universidad Complutense de Madrid); ES (English Studies) (Universidad de Valladolid); Iberia: An International Journal of Theoretical Linguistics; Miscelánea.
